Late winter days are usually not the prettiest. The snow left lying around is tainted with exhaust and dirt.
And those late winter days do not lead to the prettiest of attitudes. Most people are ready for ice on the lakes melting away to open water; for spring flowers and even spring showers to clean things up and green things up.
But some people in Eveleth decided to enjoy a late winter day last Saturday as part of the city’s first March Madness event. The Arrowhead DARE group joined in with a sliding party on the last remnants of winter snow. It was a good, wholesome, festive time. It got people out into the elements to enjoy a day where the sun was shining even though the temperatures were brisk.
Winter weather has had a fairly good grip on the area since a Dec. 1 snowstorm last year. But the Eveleth event allowed people to shed some of their winter blues and exert some spring energy.
We applaud those in Eveleth who organized the event and trust they will continue it annually.
It sets a good example for other communities that could benefit from putting on a winter-time event. Virginia is definitely one of those communities.
As above give a good description for snow. When the snow depth, in an open area bushwhacking particularly happy. What would like to break wide meadow surrounded by traces of the peak. It made me dizzy and girls to join the new powder on my chest.
