Be careful you don't get talked into debt consolidation if it leaves you still over your head and struggling financially. Many debt counselors see bankruptcy as a moral failure. It isn't. Its there so that people can make a new start.
You want to avoid bankruptcy if you can, but whether to use it should be a business decision. If you have lots of debt and no assets to protect beyond your retirement accounts (which are mostly protected in bankruptcy), it may be your best option.
Eveleth Horizons is made up of individuals from the community who are working on addressing poverty and making Eveleth thrive. This is NOT an official site for the City of Eveleth.
